Gabrielle Elise Thomas

Gabrielle Elise Thomas (known as Gabby) was born in Houston, Texas, on October 26, 1981, and lived there until age 18 before later moving to Austin, Texas in 2016, which she considered her home until her passing on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Gabby graduated from St. Agnes Academy in Houston, Texas, in 2000. She continued her studies at Baylor University earning a B. S. in Psychology. After Baylor she obtained an M.A. in Psychology and in Behavioral Analysis. She became a BCBA (board certified behavior analyst) and spent her career working with autistic and intellectually disabled children. She enjoyed working with children and formed strong bonds, persevering through job stress to make a positive impact.

Her biggest happiness came from animals. Oh, my goodness, she loved animals, especially dogs. She would call them her children. She and Chris were caring for four dogs. Willow, Sam, Hollis and the baby, Sydney. Incidentally, Sydney won Miss April in 2025 on the doggy calendar. Gabby felt overjoyed. Her second passion was art. She was an exceptionally talented artist and loved arts and crafts. She possessed a wide range of interests and demonstrated proficiency in her various pursuits, except knitting house shoes (total disaster). She was also a devoted Harry Potter fan. She and Sophia just returned from Universal Studios in November of 2025. I am so grateful she was able to have such an enjoyable trip, and some down time to relax.

She was absolutely the joy of my life and will live in my heart and memories for eternity. I will miss her every day for the rest of my life.

Cherishing her memory are her parents Sharon Holmes-Thomas, William Thomas, Grandmother, Amy Katherine Thomas, life partner Christopher Doerr, Brother, Nicholas Burns, Aunts, Ercell Holmes (son, Everett Welch), Constance Davis, Faye Gray, Gwen Thomas. Uncles, Leroy Thomas, Keith Thomas and Abraham Holmes (Diane Holmes) and numerous cousins and a niece (Audriella) and nephew (Nick).

A Memorial Service will be held at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, located at 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford. The service is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 2026, at10:00 a.m.

Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family and share memories of Gabrielle during a reception to be held in the event room at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home.
