

Gail was born on July 22, 1950, in Savannah, Georgia, to Alice and George Pinckney. In 1971, her mother, Alice, introduced her to the love of her life, Virgil Clifton “Butch” Hutchins, Jr. After only six months of dating, Gail married then - Captain, United States Army, Virgil C. “Butch” Hutchins on October 23, 1971.
She graduated from Jenkins High School in Savannah in 1968. In 1981, Gail moved with her husband and children to Houston, Texas, where she began what would become a lifelong dedication to Holy Family Catholic Church. Gail served as Parish Administrator for 38 years, retiring in May 2020. She loved both working and volunteering at the church and faithfully served on the Finance Committee, Liturgy Council, and numerous other ministries. Her friends and coworkers at Holy Family became her second family, and she cherished them deeply.
Gail’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also loved crafting and quilting and especially enjoyed cooking and baking. She delighted in sharing meals with family and friends, many of whom gathered for countless cherished memories on the back porch of her Quail Valley home.
Gail is survived by her devoted husband, Butch Hutchins, of Missouri City; her daughter, Claire Hutchins Robinson and husband Keith; her son, Grant Hutchins and wife Nicole; her grandchildren, Jake Hutchins and fiancée Carrie Lelsz, Kyle Rodriguez, and Sadie Hutchins; her brothers-in-law, Stuart Harris and Mark Browder; cousin Andrea Breault; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, including Debbie Nessmith, Brent Nessmith, Mandy Nessmith, Candi Tucker, VeeCee Harris, Shea Rocheleau, and Lauren Guy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and George Pinckney; her mother-in-law, Sarah Cannon Browder; her father-in-law, Virgil Clifton “V.C.” Hutchins; her brother, David Pinckney; her sister, Dottie Williamson; her sister-in-law, Trilbie Harris; and niece Tish Harris.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Mary Jane Guajardo for her steadfast friendship, loving heart, and the many ways she supported and cared for Gail. They also extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living and Fairmont Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
A Rosary Service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 1510 5th Street, Missouri City, Texas. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Sugar Creek Country Club, located at 420 Sugar Creek Boulevard, Sugar Land, Texas.
Gail was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
