Gloria Edith Weir

Gloria Edith Weir, 68, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at 1:35 a.m., leaving behind a family who loved her beyond measure and a lifetime of memories that will continue to live through them.

Gloria was born on June 16, 1958, in Tzintzuntzan, Mexico, to Ignacio and Aurora Rendon, who preceded her in death.

Gloria was a woman who loved with her whole heart. She was fun, loving, strong-willed and, at times, wonderfully stubborn. She never met a stranger a day in her life. No matter where she went, Gloria had a way of talking to people, making friends, and making those around her feel welcome and cared for.

Above all, Gloria had an incredibly generous heart. She was the kind of person who would give someone the shirt off her back without hesitation. She often worried more about what someone else was going without than what she herself might need.

That selfless love was especially evident in the way she cared for her family.

As a single mother, Gloria worked tirelessly to provide for her son, Michael. She made sacrifices so that he could have everything he needed—and, as he would lovingly tell you, she made sure he was spoiled along the way. She didn’t do it entirely alone, however. Gloria was blessed with the love and support of her mother, Aurora, and her sisters, Maribel and Diane, who helped care for Michael and played an important role in helping her raise him. Together, they surrounded him with the love of a close-knit family. Gloria’s devotion to her family only grew when she became a grandmother.

Her granddaughters, Layla Avery Rendon, Mila Grace Rendon, and Ava Mae Rendon, were among the greatest joys of her life. She absolutely adored them. Even through years of illness and pain, Gloria continued to put her family first and always wanted to make sure her granddaughters were loved and taken care of.

Along with her family, Gloria had a special place in her heart for her dogs—and anyone who knew her knew about her love for Elvis Presley.

Gloria's faith in God was an important part of her life. She prayed daily, not only for her own health, but especially for the health, protection, and well-being of her family. Through the good times and the difficult ones, she thanked God and trusted that He remained in control. Her family finds comfort in knowing that the faith she carried throughout her life remained with her until the end.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 18 years, Jerry Weir; her son, Michael Wayne Rendon; her beloved granddaughters, Layla Avery Rendon, Mila Grace Rendon, and Ava Mae Rendon; her brothers, Ignacio Rendon, Tony Rendon, Felix Rendon, Armando Rendon, and Rene Rendon; and her sisters, Maribel Rendon and Diane Rendon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio and Aurora Rendon, and her brother, Mario Rendon.

Gloria's life was not defined by the difficulties she endured, but by the love she gave in spite of them. She loved hard. She gave freely. She prayed faithfully. She cared deeply. And she spent her life making sure the people she loved knew just how much they meant to her.

Her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, but the love she poured into her family will remain with them for generations.

Those who knew Gloria will remember her laughter, her stubborn streak, her generosity, her ability to make a friend anywhere, and most of all, the enormous heart behind it all.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

A visitation will be held at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford on August 14, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Following the funeral service, family and friends are invited for lunch and fellowship from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Grace Community Bible Church, 5121 FM 359, Richmond, Texas 77406.
