

Herbert William Boerstler, age 88, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2017, in Houston, TX. He was born on October 16, 1928, in Johnston, PA, the oldest son of William and Catherine Elizabeth Boerstler. Herb is predeceased by his wife Carole Louise Boerstler, and son Jeffrey George Boerstler.
Herb graduated from Ferndale High School in Johnstown, PA, where he was active in several sports. He attended University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, PA, where he met Carole L. Peck, his future wife.
After their marriage in 1953, they moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where Herb enrolled in the University of Pittsburg School Of Law. A son, Jeffrey George Boerstler, was born in 1954. In 1955, they moved to Houston, TX, where Herb graduated from the South Texas School of Law and passed the Texas Bar Exam in 1957.
Herb was a Law Partner at Dillingham, Masquelette & Boerstler from 1977-1979, prior to working for Cooper Industries as their real estate attorney. Herb retired from Cooper Industries in 1995.
In 1957, Herb and Carole bought their first home in the Sharpstown area of Houston and joined St. Martin’s Lutheran Church where they remained members for forty years.
In 1964, a daughter, Cory Jean Boerstler, was born. She graduated from Sharpstown High School, Houston, TX in 1982, and Stephan F. Austin University in 1986. Cory was employed by Fort Bend School District for 29 years as an elementary teacher. She is married to Jim King, and resides in Missouri City, TX. Both Cory and Jim are retired from the Fort Bend School District.
Jeffrey and Deborah Lyn Britton were married in 1978. Jeffrey graduated from Sharpstown High School and the University of Houston with a degree in construction technology. He was Vice-President of Marshall Construction Company. He died of melanoma cancer on August 3, 2003. Deborah graduated from The Houston Baptist University with a degree in elementary education. Two children were born of their marriage: John William Boerstler, born 1982, married to the former Ashley Hoyt, who now has a daughter, Claire; and Chelsea Cory Boerstler born in 1984. John is a graduate of Texas A&M University. He was a sergeant in the US Marines and served a tour of duty in Iraq. Chelsea graduated from the University of Houston and presently works for Norton Rose Fulbright law firm.
In 1998, Carole and Herb moved to Missouri City, TX and joined New Hope Lutheran Church.
There will be a Memorial Service at New Hope Lutheran Church, 1424 FM 1092 (Murphy Road) at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017.
A private interment will be held at the Forest Park Cemetery, Westheimer Road, Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Herb’s name to New Hope Lutheran Church, M.D. Anderson Hospital, or Houston Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
