James grew up in Port Arthur, Texas. Surrounded by a large family, he had great ambition and served as a Merchant Seaman, during his career, he was enlisted and served in the United States Coast Guard – Merchant Marine, to go into many areas to search for explosive devices and other missions. His career as a Merchant Seaman lasted for over 40 years. During this time, he traveled the world extensively and entertained his family with stories about adventures at sea and life in foreign lands. His love for the sea paled in comparison to the love he had for his wife, Jo Ann Jubert, whom he married on December 1, 1951. To this matrimony, they had a daughter and 2 sons. James and Jo Ann moved their family to the Houston-area where they resided for almost 60 years.
“J.B.” as he was known to many, was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and served as a proud member of the Knights of Columbus (Council 803) in the 3rd Degree. Always one to give of his time, James coached his son’s youth baseball and soccer teams. On any given Friday night, J.B. could be found volunteering at the KC Hall fish fry.
James was an avid gardener. His vegetable garden was the envy of the neighborhood and so was his meticulously manicured lawn. These hobbies were rivaled by his enjoyment of boating, fishing, and tournament bowling. Of all the things James enjoyed, nothing compared to the joy he felt in spending time with his family.
He is proceeded in death by his parents; Louise Hilstock and Paul Ardoin, Jr., brothers; Louis and Fred Provost, sister; Dorothy Ardoin Johnson, and grandson; Aaron Paul Ardoin.
