Janet Marie Snow passed away on April 29, 2012, in Houston, Texas, after a six-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Janet was born in Yakima, Washington, on May 27, 1956. Janet graduated from West Valley High in Yakima, Washington. She attended Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College for three years, then completed her BA in accounting at Cal State Fullerton, received her Accounting Certificate from Fullerton College, where she graduated with high honors. Janet worked for many years for Wynn’s International, Inc., and was their first woman comptroller. She decided to leave Wynn’s to follow her dream of learning more about the environment and attended Lesley College/Audubon Society Expedition Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she completed one year of study in the Environmental Education Master of Science degree program. She spent the summer in Peru helping to set up a medical outpost and exchange program with the Audubon Society. Janet continued her studies at the University of Idaho and went to work for the University in the Analytical Sciences Laboratory as Lab Support Administrator/Personal Computer Specialist. She fell in love with Idaho, bought acreage in the woods and built her home there. She was a most competent person, doing much of the construction and all of the beautiful landscaping herself. Janet was court appointed as a Child’s Advocate for CASA and also volunteered at hospice in Moscow. As her best friend said, “She was advocate, sister, friend, dedicated, skilled, guardian and preserver of the earth”. Janet’s parents, Frank and Mary Snow, predeceased her. She is survived by her brothers, Eric Snow and his wife, Toni, from Houston and Mike Snow and his wife, Bradlee, from Lakewood, California, who were all at her side during her last four weeks. The family’s heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gerardo Midence and his staff in Lewiston, Idaho; Dr. Ray Alexanian, Jai and their whole team at M.D. Anderson in Houston and the wonderful folks at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospice in Houston. We are indebted to you all. Janet will be laid to rest at her home in Idaho with all of her critters.
