

John Dale McDonald passed away on Thursday, December 7th, 2017. He was born in Akron, Ohio to William B. and Lillian M. McDonald on May 22nd, 1933. John completed the machinist apprentice program at the Good Year Tire and Rubber Company. He entered the University of Akron, where he played football. His education was interrupted by serving in the US Army, and he returned to Akron U where he completed his education in 1962.
John spent his career working in the machine tool sales business, which included the companies of Warner and Swasey, Thomas Instruments, and Mori Seiki. After retirement, he spent time volunteering as a reading mentor at Sienna Crossing Elementary and Quail Valley Crime Watch. He was resident of Quail Valley and was a long-time member of Quail Valley Country Club and its Men’s Golf Association.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha McDonald, his daughter and son-in-law Molly and Len Brogan, his daughter Meghan Becker, and grandchildren Sean and Erin Brogan, and Ellie and Sarah Becker. He will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather and friend who never lost his sense of humor.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home. A funeral mass is scheduled on Tuesday, December 12, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land. The family has requested that in lieu of the customary rememberance, donations be made to The American Heart Association.
