John Albert Nardy Jr
November 2, 1936 – March 1, 2014
John was born on November 2, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to John and Alice Nardy. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be truly missed by all who came to know and love him. John graduated from Parma Senior High School; prior to attending Fenn College and Ohio State University, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his working career, he repaired ticker tape machines for The Wall Street Journal in Cleveland; sold real estate, prepared data reports for IBM, sold business forms for GAF, and owned and operated a print shop in Columbus, Ohio. After moving to Colorado in 1975, he traded commodities and joined Hornblower-Weeks in Denver. In 1977, John moved to Orlando, Florida, where he sold commodities for Merrill Lynch and Paine Webber, and then later joined Shearson, where he became a stock broker as well. Toward the end of his career, John sold insurance and annuities independently for a variety of companies. Truly, he was a “Jack of all trades” and master of them all! Amazingly, his greatest successes occurred in communities where he had no roots! John was a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shrine, and in Orlando he served as President of the Greeters of Bahia Shrine, commander of the DAV and President of the Orlando Area Theatre Organ Society. A lifelong Methodist, he was currently a member of West University United Methodist Church. Survivors include John’s loving wife of 49 years, Phyllis Beasley of Stafford, Texas; daughter, Elenor Coursey and husband Charles of Missouri City, Texas; grandchildren, Claire and Trey Coursey; sister, Alice Henry and husband Ned of New Brighton, Minnesota; nephew, Scott; nieces, Heather and Bonnie; numerous cousins and Ellie the cat. A Memorial Service celebrating John’s life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2:00pm at West University United Methodist Church located at 3611 University Blvd, Houston, TX 77005. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Organ Fund at West University United Methodist Church or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Arrangements under the direction of Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, Stafford, TX.
