Julie was born April 3, 1965, in Denver, Colorado, to Ernie and Millie Yanta and moved to Texas with her family when she was 11. She graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School, attended Lamar university in Beaumont, and later moved to Houston where she resided throughout the rest of her life.
Julie lived a life of service. She dedicated herself to her work in Early Childhood Education, was a faithful member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and gave generously to several charitable organizations.
Julie’s time was spent doting on Camille, dining with friends, taking selfies with Hamilton, and (for a temporary stint) going to Zumba. Julie enjoyed queso, diet coke, margaritas, and a good burger. Julie was the best best friend, never forgetting birthdays, anniversaries, or special occasions.
What Julie loved and treasured the most was being present in every moment of her daughter’s life. From girl scouts to cheerleading, in elementary school and through college, Julie was always in the stands or in the audience supporting Miriam. The same devotion has been shown as Miriam’s family has grown to include her husband David and her daughter Camille, and the width of a whisker is all that separates that devotion from Miriam’s family to Julie’s cats.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Mildred Yanta. She is survived by her cherished cat Hamilton, her daughter Miriam & son-in-law David McCreary, granddaughter Camille McCreary, brother Conrad & wife Terri Yanta and their children Alex & husband Patrick, Ashton, and Addison. Julie is also survived by her honorary daughter Dianna and her children.
The family extends their gratitude to her caregivers Althea, Danielle, Linda, Carmen, and Mel, for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, located at 12555 South Kirkwood, Stafford, TX, 77477, on February 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

Julia's legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those who knew her.
