DE WIZEROWYCZ TYCHOWSKYJ DANKOWICH, Juliana Maria: BA Art, BA Art History and BA Architecture, b. Sept 13, 1954 – Dec 21, 2020. With deep sadness, we announce that Juliana (Lala) unexpectedly suffered a fatal heart attack at Sugar Land Memorial Hospital, Texas. She is greatly missed by her husband of forty years, Donald Walter Dankowich and their beloved son Markian Peter who were the centers of her life. Born in Munich, Germany, she was predeceased by her Ukrainian parents, Jaroslaw & Barbara, older brother George, father-in-law Walter Dankowich and brother-in-law Andrew. Also greatly missed by Mother-in-law Nadia Dankowich, brothers-in-law, Stephen and Paul, sister-in-law, Joanne, nephews, Noah and Thomas and the Trewin and Slonetsky families.
A Ukrainian Catholic, Juliana was deeply spiritual, loved travelling and connecting with people using her command of seven languages. She loved her many cats and dogs (leaving Milka and Caesar), painting, music, gardening, nature, gourmet cooking and her many friends. Juliana loved to read and constantly amazed us with her knowledge of many various subjects. She grew up in New York then Newark and lived in Madrid and Valencia, Spain. She loved learning French in Montreal, and working in Seattle and continuing her education at the U of Washington. She enjoyed Minneapolis and our Nordic friends. She designed our Toronto home while enrolling Markian in a Ukrainian public school, then brought Markian to Ukraine in 2017 for one year to learn his language and culture.
Juliana was unique and memorable. Vichnaya Pamyat! Donations may be made to the American Heart Association and the Pokrova Ukrainian Catholic Church, 9102 Meadowshire St, Houston, TX 77037. For those that cannot attend, a Zoom Funeral Service will be held at 4 pm on Monday, Jan 4, 2021 at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, Stafford, TX. Email Don at [email protected] for link
