Klaas Lindemulder was born 12/18/1929 in the town of Houwerzijl, Netherlands to Anje and Jon Lindemulder. Klaas worked on his father’s farm and then served in the Dutch Army before immigrating to the United States. He settled in Brooklyn NY where he met and married the love of his life Johanna Kleyn in 1959.

They each had $15 in their pocket and a train ticket to North Dakota as Klaas and Johanna began their 62 year journey together. From North Dakota they traveled to Alamosa, Colorado where he attended and received his Bachelor’s degree in Science from Adams State College. After graduating, he moved back to North Dakota where he and his wife started their family by welcoming their first born son, John, and shortly thereafter their first daughter, Trudy. From North Dakota, he moved his family to Tennessee and then eventually to Paterson, NJ, where they welcomed their 3rd child, Bill. In 1966, they bought their first house in Green Brook, NJ where they completed their family with the births of their 4th and 5th children, Johanna and Richard.

They settled in Green Brook for 23 years where they raised their family. During his career, Klaas held positions such as educating nursing students, Real-estate sales and biochemistry for major pharmaceutical companies. He eventually retired from his role as a Information Scientist at Hoffman La Roche and spent the majority of his retirement years in Bradenton, Florida. Not one to sit around, he immediately obtained his Florida Real-estate and Mortgage Broker license and engaged in community service. Always one to give back, he received numerous awards and accolades for his volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity and tutoring math for adults working toward their GED testing. In 2017, he and Johanna moved to Missouri City, Texas where he lived out his final years. Family always came first for Klaas, thus he was blessed with a 62 year marriage, 5 healthy children, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild whom he loved with all of his heart and soul.

He will forever be remembered by his friends and family for his warm smile, welcoming hugs and infectious laugh.

Klaas was predeceased by his parents Jon and Anje Lindemulder, and his two brothers, Orrie and Jon. He is survived by his loving wife, Johanna Maria Kleyn-Lindemulder, his children John and Pat Lindemulder, Gettysburg, PA; Trudy Lindemulder-Nelson and Dan Nelson, Missouri City, Texas; Bill Lindemulder, Green Brook, NJ; Johanna Lindemulder, Clinton, NJ and Richard and Carla Lindemulder, Pompton Plains, NJ; Grandchildren Joshua and Matthew Leidich, Jennifer, Christine, Michelle, and Melanie Lindemulder, Shelby and Jack Brady; and Daniel Lindemulder and Great Grandchild Charlotte Whetstine.

It was so special to visit Houwerzijl lately... To see the small village where my uncle was born.

I still remember my first visit to New Jersey when I was 11 years old. Ome Klaas and tante Jopie were so welcoming. I loved the french toast they made me for breakfast.

And the week I spend at their house in Florida, when I visited with a friend when I was in my twenties. We had so much fun!

And the video calls he tried to make 😀

Lieve tante Jopie: heel veel sterkte met dit grote verlies. And to my cousins: wishing you lots of strength.

Love from Holland 🖤

I will never forget ome Klaas!
