January 7, 1934July 16, 2020

Laura B. White, affectionately known as “Grandma”, departed this life on July 16, 2020. She was born in Paris, Arkansas on January 7th, 1934 to the late E.C. “Dyke” and Linnie Bowerman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, David J. White; one sister, Betty Boyles, and two brothers, John and Bennett Bowerman. Laura is survived by her dear sister, Hilda Jo Boyer of Little Rock; her sons, Philip and wife Melinda along with stepdaughters Breanna and Kaylee; Scott and his wife Vetta, and daughter Julie and her husband, Patrick Reames. She also leaves a legacy of 4 grandchildren; Ashley White and her husband Garrett Eckhardt, Brett and Chad White, and Allison Reames. Laura worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell after graduating from high school. After having her first child, she quit to stay home and take care of him. She dedicated her life to taking care of her children and supporting Dave’s career in the oilfield industry. The family lived in Arkansas, New Mexico, Louisiana and Ecuador before returning to Texas. While her kids are all Texans, Laura loved Arkansas most of all. Laura will be laid to rest aside her loving husband, Dave, in a private ceremony at the V.A. Houston National Cemetery on July 24th at 1 p.m.

My aunt Laura. I just found out I loved her so she and Hilda Jo took care of me when I was little and I'll never forget it. My heart is broken right now I wished I could seen her more. May her children left be comforted by knowing that she is in heaven now with Dave and her parents. Dyke and Linnie. To the loved one
left my heart and prayers are with you

Her many acts of loving kindness were well known to us. A deep loss for her family and her beloved sister Jo. Their times together as young women and with their husbands in Arkansas, Houston and Galveston, and when traveling together in Aruba and Hawaii were happy and timeless. She was always interested in what we were doing out of genuine care and concern for others. She opened her heart to her children, grandchildren and us, and we will cherish her memory.

Phil, Scott and Julie - so sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother. As you know, she was like a second mother to me. I have so many fond memories playing dominoes and spades at your house while in high school. She was a very special lady and will be missed. Much love to you and yours.
