

Lydia Trevino San Pedro Cichosz, affectionately known as “Yaya” to her close friends and family, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas on August 7, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on August 24, 1931, in Tamaulipas, Mexico, Lydia was known for being a strong independent woman, her caring spirit, helpful nature, advice and sharp intelligence. Throughout her long and vibrant life, Lydia excelled at whatever she put her mind and heart into, leaving a lasting impression on all who met her.
Lydia spent her younger years traveling the United States and Europe, at a time when women traveling alone was frowned upon. In 1966, Lydia entered into marriage marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life. In 1968 Lydia gave birth to a son, Stuart. She was deeply devoted to her family. In 1975, after divorcing her husband, Lydia moved to Houston with her son, where she continued to study and work. Lydia loved to read, garden, cook, dance, and design clothes.
Lydia joins her beloved parents, Luis Trevino and Anita San Pedro Trevino, as well as her sisters in the afterlife. Lydia is survived by her only son, Stuart Cichosz, multiple friends and other family members.
Her memory will live forever in our hearts. She was the guiding light of my life – devoted, generous in love and radiant with joy that touched all who had the blessing of knowing her. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, and she will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Gathering for Lydia Cichosz will be held at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home on Friday, August 22nd 2025 at 3:00 p.m.
