Marcela Longoria Guzman, age 76, passed away surrounded by family on February 10, 2019 in Houston, Texas. She was born Marcela Longoria on November 11, 1942 in Raymondville, Texas to Adelaido and Angelita Rodriguez Longoria. She is the wife of Santiago Llanes Guzman of Raymonville, Texas.
She was raised in Raymondville, Texas where she met and married her husband of 57 years, Santiago Guzman and moved to California where their first child, Glenda, was born. They returned to Raymondville, Texas in 1968 where their second child, Eva, was born. Shortly there after they took up residence in Houston, Texas where Sylvia and Christina were born and raised. She worked for Fort Bend ISD for 35 years ending her career as the bookkeeper at Willowridge High school. She loved being involved in church teaching CCE for almost 30 years at St. Marks Catholic Church and Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters until her health started failing and she could no longer sustain the energy. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and exploring various casinos, like her mother did. Most of all she loved supporting her children and grandchildren being there for every event and celebration with her husband always by her side.
Marcela is survived by her husband of 57 years, Santiago Llanes Guzman, and four daughters, Glenda Ann (Noel) Macal, Eva Lynne (Ricardo Garza) Guzman, Sylvia Lee (Anthony Vallejo) Guzman and Christina Angelita (Edward) Alvarado. She has 14 grandchildren Michael, Christina Belen, Richard, Megan, Jason, Steven, Lauren, Santiago, Victoria, Eli, Ricardo, Joseph, Marcos and Arianna. She is also survived by her Brother Joe L. (Olga) Longoria and Sister Audelia Deleon.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Adelaido and Angelita Longoria, brothers Felix (Corina), Manuel, Gustavo, Eustolio Longoria, sister Eduvina Longoria; Brother-in-law Frank Deleon, and son Santiago Guzman, Jr.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 13 at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Earthman Southwest, 12555 S. Kirkwood, Stafford, Texas 77477. A second visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:30 at Good Shepard Funeral Home, 1157 W. Hidalgo, Raymondville, Texas with a Rosary at 6:30. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 693 N. 3rd St, Raymondville, Texas 78580 at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 15, 2019.
