

Marie Walsh, 84, of Houston, TX, died June 5, 2016. Marie was born on August 9, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. After attending Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School for Girls, she graduated with a nursing degree from Columbia University. In 1956, Marie married James Walsh and moved to Queens Village, NY where they raised six children. Over their 42 year marriage, they moved to Atlanta, GA and finally to Houston, TX. Marie was active at St. Jerome Catholic Church. She was involved for many years in the Catholic Daughters of America Court Ave Maria 2001 and in the DCCW of Galveston-Houston. Marie was an active member of the Republican Woman’s Club and enjoyed working at the polls on Election Day. Marie was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who appreciated the gift of faith and family in her life. She loved sharing music and laughter to all she encountered. She is survived by her six children, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A Vigil and Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 9th at 7:00 PM with the Funeral Mass being celebrated on Friday, June 10th at 10:00 AM. Both the Vigil and the Funeral Mass will be held at St. Laurence Catholic Church - 3100 Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land, TX 77479. Donations can be made in her honor to either the Catholic Clerical Student Fund at St. Mary’s Seminary (www.smseminary.org) or the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org)
