

Marlene Janet Soltesz
October 9,1946 - February 23,2019
Marlene Soltesz was born on October 9, 1946 in Worthington, Minnesota to Henry and Theresa Ruesch Goedtke. She grew up on the family farm and attended First grade through high School at Brewster Public School in Brewster Minnesota. She liked working on the farm and especially liked to work with the animals. She graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1964 and went on to attend Mankato Commercial College obtaining a job with the CIA in Washington D.C. After several years she returned home to continue farming and to pursue more college at Worthington Junior College in Worthington, Minnesota. During these years she developed mental health issues which plagued her the rest of her life. Medicine did help.. She moved to Glendora California (Los Angeles County) to live with her sister Berdene in 1977 and was able to obtain a job doing Medicare billing at a doctor’s office. She soon moved to Monterey Park, Ca. and married Sandor Paul Soltesz, a former Hungarian Soccer player in May of 1982. In 1985 they moved to Laguna Hills in Orange County and managed apartments for a while. Berdene and family would visit monthly driving from Los Angeles County. They enjoyed their kitties over the years. In 1997 they purchased a one bedroom condominium in Rancho Santa Margarita, a neighboring town. Sandor passed away on 9/11/2000 and Marlene continued to live there. She worked in a grocery store and soon met Ronald Paulo. Ron and his German shepherd dog soon moved in with Marlene. Marlene and Ron decided to move back to her old farm house in Minnesota. She sold her condo in 2005 and they moved back. They visited Berdene in Sugar Land, Texas in the winter. The farm house burned in April of 2008 and Marlene purchased a house for them in Heron Lake, Minnesota in the spring of 2009. Things did not work out and in 2010 Marlene moved to Sugar Land permanently. Ron lived in Minn. in the summer and would come to Texas at Christmas and stay a while. On Dec 23, 2019 Ron was rear ended by a truck near Windom but was not hurt badly. His car was totaled and a series of events lead to his death. He passed sometime prior to February 11 in his home. Marlene was affected by all of this and her left hip and leg pain were becoming worse. After a brief hospital stay, Marlene passed away of pneumonia.
Marlene’s parents and brother preceded her in death. Survivors include her sister, Berdene Bethel, nephew Mark and son Russell of Sugar Land. Niece Melody and husband Robert Fovall live in Glendora, CA. Niece Heidi Bethel and husband Kris Chillar with son Jason live in Springfield, Virginia. She also has many cousins who live all over the U.S.
