Martha C. Aldridge was born September 23, 1930 in Downs Township, Illinois. She was the eldest daughter of Frank and Myrtle (North) Williams and was raised in Piper City, Illinois, where she was a 1948 graduate of Piper City High School. Martha moved from Illinois and eventually settled in Sugar Land, Texas. After completing college level business classes, she was employed as a Legal Administrative Assistant for the prominent Houston, Texas Butler & Binion law firm until she retired in 1992. During this time she met and married her life partner John “Jack” Aldridge, who preceded her in death in 2009.
Martha was a proud and independent woman who had a successful career and cared for her husband Jack when he became ill, despite being an amputee (which stemmed from a childhood playground accident). Martha was known by her friends and family as quick witted, down to earth, and always jovial with a positive outlook on life. She was a kind and inspirational person and her absence will be felt by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Martha passed away on March 03, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, her sisters Bernice and Frieda, her brother Edwin “Toad” Williams, and her brother William “Billy” Williams who lost his life in WWII and is buried in France. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and leaves behind loving friends and staff at Brookdale Sugar Land and the various establishments she frequented in Sugar Land and Houston.
Martha will be buried alongside her husband at Brenton Cemetery in Piper City, Illinois. The burial will be private. A “Celebration of Life” will be held privately with her family members at a later date.
