County, Texas, the eighth child of George Weatherspoon, Sr. and Cansadie Bogus
Weatherspoon. From humble beginnings in a close- knit community, Marvin grew into a
man known for his quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and deep love for family.
In 1951, Marvin married the love of his life Robbie English. That same year, he was drafted
into the United States Army, where he served honorably during the Korean War until 1953.
Upon his return, Marvin and Robbie built a life together, raising three children in a home
filled with warmth, laughter, and integrity.
Marvin dedicated over 45 years of service to Geospace Technologies, a manufacturer of
energy and defense instrumentation. As shipping manager, he was known for his reliability,
work ethic, and steady leadership. His commitment to excellence left a lasting impression
on colleagues and friends alike.
Outside of work, Marvin found joy in simple pleasures. He loved traveling- especially his
trips to California, and cherished time spent playing dominos with his brother J.C., where his
legendary one-liners could spark laughter or silence the room with wit. A soft spoken man
with a heart full of generosity, Marvin had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued.
His kindness extended far beyond his family, touching neighbors, coworkers, and strangers
with quiet grace.
Marvin was a devoted husband, father, and provider. He lived a life rooted in love, humility,
and purpose. His legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and the kind of wisdom that
speaks softly, but stays forever.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Robbie English-Weatherspoon,
his parents, George and Cansadie, his son Gary Weatherspoon, and his siblings Moses
Tubbs, Roosevelt Bradley, Willie Weatherspoon, Herman Weatherspoon, Arnold
Weatherspoon, George Weatherspoon, James C. Weatherspoon, and Claretha Brooks
Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Marvin (Joan) and Ronald (Valencia), his sister
Angie Lane; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
