Mary Coronis Chilivetis

Mary was born to Helen and James Coronis in Patmos, Greece, and at age two moved with her family to Houston, Texas. She later married Nicholas William Chilivetis on June 26, 1949. Mary and Nicholas had two children, William and Lea, and raised them surrounded by their family, their fellow Patmians, and their church family at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Houston, Texas. Mary lived a long and fulfilling life. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas William Chilivetis, her parents Eleni Coronis and James Paul Coronis, her brother, Paul James Coronis, and her sister, Evelyn Mallios. She is survived by her son, William Nicholas Chilivetis and his wife, Suzann Gabriel Chilivetis, as well as her daughter Lea Hilburn and Lea’s husband George Edward Hilburn. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, whom she adored.

A visitation for Mary will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Blvd, Houston, Texas 77006, immediately followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Honored to serve as pallbearers during Wednesday’s services are Steve Chilivetis, Pete Kanakidis, Lynn Lenoir, Joseph Maldonado, Phillip Mallios, and Shelby Smith.

Honorary pallbearers are William George Chilivetis and George Hilburn.

Immediately following, the service all are invited to greet the family and share remembrances of Mary during a makaria luncheon to be held in the Martel Hall at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
