Mary Davis Gillespie
June 29, 1929 – March 13, 2020
Mary Katherine Davis Gillespie (Kassie) entered eternal life, March 13, 2020 at the age of 90 years young.
Mary was born on June 29, 1929 to Basil (Cubby) and Mary Davis in St. Albans, West Virginia.
She graduated from St. Albans High School in 1947 as Co-Valedictorian. She then went to work at Union Carbide in South Charleston, West Virginia, where she met her husband, William (Bill) Alexis Gillespie. Kassie and Bill married on May 26, 1950.
Kassie and Bill lived in St. Albans until 1976 when they moved to Houston, Texas.
Prior to moving to Houston, they started their family with first born, daughter, Karen Alexis, born April 1, 1953, Son, Stephen Granville born February 2, 1955 and Son, William David, born January 22, 1969.
As a family they loved to travel and made many vacation trips together, especially to visit family in Florida. Kassie loved the beach and spending time with her baby sister.
After transferring to Houston, Kassie worked as a Merchandiser for American Greetings where she met many lifelong friends. Kassie was an avid Astros’ fan and loved going to games at the Astrodome and Minute Maid Park. Her biggest passion was going to her Grandsons football and baseball games. She was such a proud Grandmother.
Kassie also had a passion for animals, especially her beloved cat Tommy, and her grand dogs, Casey, Sassie and Lexie.
Kassie was proceeded in death by husband Bill, March 13, 2010, her Father, Basil (Cubby) and Mother, Mary Catherine Davis.
Kassie is survived by her sister, Gail Davis Cascella of Parrish, Florida, Daughter, Karen Perdue of Houston, Son, Steve Gillespie of Houston and Son, David Gillespie, wife Amanda and Grandsons, Grant and Graham Gillespie of Cypress, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from 1 to 2 p.m. with celebration of Kassie’s life following at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 S. Kirkwood Road, Stafford, TX 77477.
For those who desire, the family suggest donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Foundation or charity of choice.

Kassie became a very dear friend when I was transferred to Houston. We had great times when we got together at friends homes. I love her delay. She is with God and we will miss her.
