Mauro was a man who truly loved being around family. Whether it was a big holiday gathering, a weekend barbecue, or just a regular evening at home, he was happiest when everyone was together — laughing, sharing stories, and simply being close. Family was everything to him.
He also loved his sports — especially his Astros and Texans. You could always find him watching the game, cheering, yelling at the TV, or giving his own “coaching advice.” And when he wasn’t watching sports, you could bet CNN was on — he liked staying informed and always had something to say about what was going on in the world.
He was also the kind of man who loved working with his hands. Whether it was fixing up cars, helping with maintenance around the house, or lending a hand to someone who needed help, he was always ready to jump in. He didn’t mind getting a little dirty if it meant helping someone out.
But what he loved most of all was being a grandpa and great-grandpa. To them, he wasn’t just “Grandpa” — he was a father figure, a role model, and a source of love, laughter, and guidance. You could see the pride in his eyes whenever he talked about his grandkids and great-grandkids.
And of course, our dad was proud — so very proud — to have served in the military. He was Army Airborne, and he carried that pride with him every day of his life. His service was a huge part of who he was — strong, disciplined, loyal, and courageous.
Dad leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength. He taught us the importance of family, hard work, and helping others. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we can take comfort in knowing he lived a good life — one filled with purpose, pride, and love.
We’ll miss him deeply, but we’ll carry him with us always — in our hearts, in our stories, and in the values he passed on to each of us.
We love you, Dad. Thank you for everything.
