He loved to bowl and was one of many members of Mahall’s 20 Lanes, a family owned business.
Neal graduated from Benedictine High School, class of 1962, where he excelled in journalism. Neal also excelled as an athlete in speed skating, setting many national records.
He went on to enlist in the United States Air Force. In 1966 he was the Editor for ‘The Central Communications Region Newsnet’ (The unofficial Air Force Publication). In 1968 at Clark, John Hay AB, Neal worked for the ‘American Forces Philippines Network’ playing the tops in popular music for Clark listeners.
After retiring from the Air Force, Neal became a private pilot and loved flying. He had a passion for fishing, golf, photography, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and Loved his Cleveland Indians and Houston Astros.
Neal is preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Adele Mahall. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Brinkley and husband Rod; three grandchildren, Burke, Lilly and Jayden Brinkley; his brother, Jack and wife Muriel, brother Jeffrey and wife Susan, sister Connie and husband Jim Hageman; along with a niece, nephews and several cousins.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 12:45 pm at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
