

Patricia Ann Willer Mitchell, age 87, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026. She was born on April 10, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan to Elwin C. Willer and Helen Marie Schwarte Willer.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Kenneth Willer (Marjorie) and Ronald Willer (Karen). She leaves behind her devoted husband of 65 years, Thomas Peter Mitchell, who adored her from the moment they met, as well as their children: Peter Thomas Mitchell (Vera), Terrance Michael Mitchell (Julie), Mary Helen Bartlett (Bradley), Kathleen Ann Grossman (James), and Thomas Patrick Mitchell. She was the proud grandmother of Alexandra, Caroline, Joao, Josephine, Oliver, and Lua.
Pat spent some of her childhood in Cadillac, Michigan, before moving to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where she attended grade school. Her family later settled in Chicago, and she graduated from Maria High School in 1956. She went on to earn her associate’s degree from Mundelein College in 1959.
In 1957 Pat met the love of her life, Tom. They married in 1960, beginning a partnership full of laughter, teamwork, and the occasional martini and old fashioned. From dating in Chicago to their early years of marriage in Cincinnati, fate led them to Houston, where they raised their lively, sporty family. Pat became an expert in logistics, raising five active children, juggling overlapping practices, games, carpools, religious and school events all while working full time.
Pat loved making the holidays special and hosting dinner for her large family for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She especially liked St. Patrick’s Day with the music and dancing. Pat and Tom enjoyed traveling with trips to Mexico, China, cruises, and road trips throughout the United States.
A woman of deep faith and community spirit, Pat was active at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She and Tom helped launch the first parish bazaar, Pat sang in the choir, and served on the parish council, where she eventually became President. Pat approached every role with enthusiasm—and dedication.
She cherished her many bridge clubs, bowling league, and tennis, where she was known for her infectious laugh. Pat loved spending time with her groups of friends and building her community.
Over the years, Pat worked as an elementary school teacher, bank teller, and school librarian, before spending 20 years with the Diocese of Galveston -Houston in parish accounting. After retiring, she continued donating her time and talents through volunteer work with the Catholic Charity Guild.
Pat will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, located at 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A Vigil will follow at the same location on, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 8200 Roos Road in Houston.
The family will gather for a private interment at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
