Patrick C. Holley passed away on August 13, 2023 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s and a previous bout of cancer, all of which he faced with incredible strength, character, and grace. With his family beside him, his soul took flight just shy of his 67th birthday, at the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. He returned to stardust, lighter than air and danced with the heavenly stars in those early morning hours.
Preceded in death by his parents Peter and Cecilia; his brother Peter; and his sister-in-law Margie, Pat is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Janice Harvey Holley; his children Eileen Holley Rahman (husband Kori) and Daniel Holley; his brother Michael Holley; his sister-in-law Ina Holley; and ten more Harvey in-laws (his wife’s siblings). Additionally, Pat has a multitude of nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Born in Mount Sterling, KY, Pat grew up moving around the country with family, as his father had a 23-year career in the military. Pat graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, before beginning his career in the oil and gas industry. He started working as a project engineer at Hydril, moving to Houston with the company in 1982. Not long after that, he met Janice Harvey one New Year’s Eve across a crowded room, instantly fell in love, and married her.
By 1989 Pat had joined Cameron Iron Works, which later merged into Cooper Oil Tool and then was spun off as Cooper Cameron Corporation. While working, Pat went on to earn a Master’s in Business Administration from Rice University in 1992, which enabled him to move into progressively senior roles within Cooper Cameron. In 2005, Pat led the establishment of Cameron’s Measurement Systems division, and he managed several acquisitions, including NUFLO Measurement Systems, BARTON, CALDON, JISKOOT and LINCO. From the Measurement division, Pat was promoted to lead Cameron’s Compression Systems division. Following his 26 years with Cameron, Pat brought his expertise and experience to W-Industries/CSE Americas as CEO and later to Solarcraft as an Executive Consultant and Strategic Advisor.
Pat and Janice settled first in the Heights, then in Sugar Land, Texas, where they raised their daughter and son together. Despite traveling the world with his work, he was actively involved with his children, leading scout troops, helping with science projects, mentoring, patiently teaching them to drive, and to navigate life. Along with his wife, he participated in seven medical missions to Laredo and Costa Rica with the Medical Missionaries of Divine Mercy, where he volunteered his time and handyman skills, and no task was beneath him.
Pat will be remembered for his sense of humor, intelligence and kind nature. He was a good listener and always knew how to start a conversation with anyone. He was a caring and gentle husband, a patient and fun dad, a loyal and thoughtful friend, a smart and humble leader, and a good man. Family and friends are forever grateful to have had Pat in their lives and he will be deeply missed. But he will live on in the hearts of those he touched, for no one loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.
