

ROBERT KENNETH THORNTON, SR., age 80, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, in Houston, TX. He was born on Dec. 10, 1929, in Palestine, TX. Bob graduated with a Bachelors degree from Texas Christian University. He was honored to serve his country in the Air Force for four years. He worked for the Missouri Pacific/UP Railroad for forty years. Bob was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teri Lyn Thornton; and brothers, Bill and George Thornton. Bob is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Mitzi Thornton; daughters, Suzanne Milstead and husband Bob, and Lori Cybulski and husband Michael; son, Robert Thornton, Jr., and wife Carolyn; twelve grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. Visitation: 5-8 pm, on Mon., Sept. 6, at Earthman Southwest Chapel, Stafford, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass: 10:00 am, on Tues., Sept. 7, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Sugar Land, with the Rev. Msgr. George A. Sheltz, Celebrant. Burial: 2 pm, on Wed., Sept. 8, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Palestine, TX.
