at 1:47 p.m. at Memorial Hermann Hospital Medical Center, Houston, from complications from a heart attack and stroke. He was 75 years old. His wife, relatives and close friends were at his bedside when he passed away.
Bobby was born on August 19, 1943 in Mapandan, Pangasinan, Philippines. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Priscilla ‘Prescy’ Damian Aquino, his sons Randy and Ricky, his sister Terrie, brothers Paul and Florene, his nephews, nieces and in-laws in the U.S. and in the Philippines. Bobby was preceded by his parents Buenaventura and Maria Aquino, sisters Eugenia, Fausta, Romana, Cristina, and brothers Clemente and Eddie.
Bobby started college at the Philippine Maritime Institute in Manila, Philippines, but after a year and a half, he enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Saginaw. While in the Navy, he was passionate about cooking and honed his culinary skills. He was also awarded 2 good conduct medals. While in the service he met his love in life, Prescy. Soon after, they married and started a family. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in November 1973 and rejoined his family.
In Houston, Bobby landed a job at Cameron International as a machinist. He later was able to continue his federal service as a postal worker until he retired a few years ago. Bobby was very active in the Filipino community. He was one of the founders of the Pangasinan Association of Texas and served in several officer positions. He was also a past director of the Filipino Association of Texas. Bobby was a longstanding member of the Ilocano Club of Metro Houston where his wife also served as a past president. He and his wife are also a part of the Sampaguita Support Group, a family-oriented organization. Bobby also aspired to be a mason.
Many will remember Bobby as a friendly and an easygoing guy with a contagious smile. He was very social and loved to celebrate life with Prescy and their friends. Bobby enjoyed bowling, traveling by land, going on cruises and singing. He also enjoyed trying his luck in mahjong, Texas Hold'em poker and slot machines in the casinos, and playing lotto. Bobby loved fishing and gardening and generously shared his harvest with his family and friends.
Visitation and Funeral Wake Service will be on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at the
Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 S Kirkwood Rd, Stafford, Texas, 77477 with a Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass Service will be on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land, Texas 77479.
Interment will be following at the Houston National Cemetery, at 12:45 p.m, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038.
