

He is preceded in death by his parents, Delfin and Vicenta Jugueta, his sister, Josephine Jugueta Macabante, his nephew, Erickson Capulong, and his wife, Fatima Frial Arranz Jugueta.
Romy grew up in Mauban, Quezon Province, southeast of Manila near Cagbalete Island. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on December 13, 1968 and served until January 31, 1997. He retired as an E9 Master Chief Master at Arms. He has traveled all around the world, served in wartime, received several medals and impacted many lives as a leader. After Romy retired from the Navy, he worked for the U.S. Government in Customs and Border Protection in Honolulu, Hawaii and San Ysidro, California.
Romy married the love of his life Fatima Jugueta on August 25, 1973 in Alabama. He courted her with his “golden voice” and his talents on guitar and piano, which he maintained well into his last months. Romy has been featured in many programs and gatherings as a solo singer.
He was a beloved and well-regarded member of the Filipino Community and was an active member of the Knights of Rizal. He received several honors for his service to the country including the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Armed Forces Services Medal, and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award. His training in the military also cultivated his award-winning skills as a marksman and sharp shooter, which he maintained well into his last months.
Romy’s family and friends will remember him most for his love of the sea, fishing, cooking and parties, for his generosity and his great love of music. Romy would often bring gifts, fish and food to his friends and loved ones, he impressed people with his culinary abilities, and he brought joy to so many people with his songs of love.
Romy was a mentor to many, he had a strong voice, he loved to tell jokes, he had a huge heart and he made many sacrifices for his family. He is responsible for paving the way for the thriving lives of his parents, wife, daughter and siblings, and he has left a great legacy.
Romy is survived by his daughter, Christine Jugueta, and his siblings, Loreta “Lori” Borja, Carlos “Caloy” Jugueta, Carmelita “Melita” Capulong, Milagros “Mila” Gayao, Serafin “Affin” Jugueta and Victoria “Vicky” Jugueta. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and his Beloved dog, Leroy.
Memorial services are being held on June 9, 10 and 11 in the Houston area.
