Rosa M. Muldong

Rosa Mercado Muldong, a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the best aunt to so many. She passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025. She was surrounded by the love of her family.

Rosa was born and raised in Pasig, Rizal Philippines on August 28, 1930, to Maria Tibay and Casimiro Mercado, Sr. She practiced midwifery and helped childbirth to so many mothers while she was in Surigao City, Philippines. She once held the title of Mrs. Surigao and was elected president of the Officers Wives Club while her husband was in the military. She earned her degree in Music at Liceo De Cagayan University in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines and made another career as professor of music at the same university.

In 1988, she began her journey in the United States. She happily reunited with all her siblings and the rest of the Mercado family.

Rosa's passion included sewing and designing one-of-a-kind unique outfits, pillows, jewelry, and other crafts. Her love for patterns with bright colors reflected her vibrant personality. She loved watching YouTube videos to get ideas for her next "conversational piece” projects and proudly gifted them to family and friends.

With her love for music, Rosa also taught piano to so many children and became their music mentor. She held piano recitals throughout the years. In family gatherings, Rosa enjoyed playing the piano with everyone singing along.

Rosa is preceded in death by her beloved husband Col./Dr. Jose Muldong, Sr., stepson Bobby, sisters Clara, Lydia, and brother Casimiro, Jr. Rosa is survived by her son, Joss “Boy,” granddaughter Jaja, great-granddaughter Nica, stepdaughter Marites, nephews, nieces & many grandchildren.

Rosa Muldong will be remembered for her wisdom, great stories, jokes, music, and dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
