Rosemary H. Crowe

Rosemary Gaetana Hallett Crowe of Richmond, Texas, born September 17, 1924 in Fort Francis, Ontario, Canada, passed away January 24, 2018. She was the daughter of Rev. Leslie William Hallett and Rosa Dell (Schweitzer).

She is survived by her daughter, Marcia and son-in-law Frank Spears; son Michael and former-wife Kathleen “Casey” (Coons) Crowe; son Sean and daughter-in-law Bangon (Kerdsuk) Crowe. Four grandchildren survive her: Brendan, Brian (and girl friend Megan Kutsko), Patrick, and Kevin Crowe. Her youngest brother, Rev. Timothy Jerome and wife Mary Beth (Van Eenwyk) Hallett, her sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Robinson) Hallett (spouse of her brother Rev. Leslie Delbert Hallett), and her brother-in-law, Orwell A. Erickson (spouse of her sister Gwendolyn), also survive her.

Her husband of 62 years, Ambrose Francis “Mike” Crowe, her parents, six siblings and some of their spouses preceded Rosemary in death: (William Romance Nash, Leslie Delbert Ross, Gwendolyn Ann, Barbara Charmain and husband Jean Wilfred “Chick” Bopp, Paul Loring Charles and wife Janet Lillian Crosby, and Patricia Rosa Dell and husband Donald Sigvartsen Benson).

Her ashes will be interred in a columbarium beside those of her late husband at a memorial service in May at Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester, MN.

We want to thank our family and many friends, nurses, staff, and volunteers at Clayton Oaks Living, Memorial Hermann Sugar Land, OakBend Medical Center Richmond, Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center, Calvary Episcopal Church of Richmond, TX, and Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care of Houston, for their kind and loving care of Rosemary’s final years and months.

After high school Rosemary worked as a riveter on B-17’s in the Boeing Aircraft Factory in Seattle, WA. Later she kept track of guns on naval warships at the Navy department in D.C. She joined many women in the war effort that became cultural icons of that era. After the war she attended Rochester Junior College in Minnesota where she met her future husband Mike Crowe.

Rosemary dedicated her life to her husband and children, working as a homemaker. She enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts but really loved embroidery, completing a number of impressive pieces. She also enjoyed writing poetry, short stories, and prose. After her children were grown she became a Certified Graphoanalyst and a life member of the International Graphoanalysis Society.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation as a way to honor Rosemary for her loving care of her husband in his later years. https://www.alz.org
