

Saturnino Cabuang Ulanday, age 80, of Houston, Texas passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025. He was born on October 14, 1944 in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan, Philippines. Saturnino was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved traveling to other countries, fishing with his friends in Galveston, and going to the casinos in Louisiana. He enjoyed attending his children’s marching band contests, dance team competitions, and sports events. He also loved watching his grandchildren’s band and orchestra concerts, volleyball tournaments, and basketball games.
In 1969, Saturnino graduated from the Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines with a degree in Architecture. He started working as an Architect at Philippine Mendoza and Associates. From 1971-1975, he taught Architecture at the University of Pangasinan in the Philippines. In late 1975, he immigrated to the U.S. and worked for companies Transco and Sargent and Lundy in Chicago, Illinois.
In 1982, Saturnino and his family left Chicago and moved to Houston, Texas. He started working for Hoffa Inc., a small architectural and structural metals manufacturing company. He was a model employee, who was highly respected by his manager and co-workers. After working 30 years at the company, he retired in 2012, at the age of 67.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Juan and Fortunata Cabuang Ulanday; brothers and sisters: Brigida Ulanday Sales, Delfin Ulanday, Bonifacio Cacerez, and Maria Poyaoan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 54 years, Josefina Ulanday; his 3 children: Jeffrey Ulanday (Kathleen), Jereza Ilagan (Gary), and Sheila Exconde (Royden Sr.); and his 10 grandchildren: Chloe, Karin, Sophie, Scarlett, Madeleine, Madison, Jeffrey (JJ), Royden Jr. (Colin), Jonah, and Caleb; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
A visitation for Saturnino will be held Thursday, May 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 12627 W Bellfort Ave. in Sugar Land.
The Rite of Committal will follow, via funeral procession, to Forest Park Southwest Cemetery, 9040 FM 359 Road in Richmond.
Following The Rite of Committal, all are invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Saturnino during a reception to be held at Feast Buffet, 1707 N. Fry Rd., Katy, Texas 77449.
