Sherrial Cameal Lowe was born on May 22, 1957 in Leland, Mississippi. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, MS under the leadership of Rev. L. J. Young in the March of 1968.
Sherrial received her early education at McEvans Elementary School in Shaw, Mississippi and Lucy L. Webb Elementary School in Greenville, MS. Her junior high school tenure was completed at T. L. Weston High School in Greenville, MS. She was an active member of the 4-H Club, Youth Development Program while in high school.
Sherrial matriculated to Greenville High School in Greenville, MS where she was active in several clubs and organizations. Sherrial attended Greenville High School at the beginning of public school integration. She is and forever will be a member of the graduating Class of 1975 of Greenville High School. In 1975, Sherrial received acceptance into the prestigious Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS where she majored in Business Education. While in college, she was selected as a Resident Assistant (RA) for the female dormitories. Sherrial was highly regarded as a scholar because she excelled in her studies while attending MSU. Her determination to succeed propelled her status as an exemplary student. With service in heart, Sherrial became a member of the Lambda Eta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in the Fall of 1978. In 1981, Sherrial received her Bachelors of Science degree in Business Education from Mississippi State University.
Through the Years…
In March of 1983, Sherrial relocated and made Houston, Texas her forever home. She began her tenure in education with Houston Independent School District where she was employed her entire career. The vision of the HISD is that every child shall have equitable opportunities and equal access to an effective and personalized education in a nurturing and safe environment. Each day, Sherrial worked tirelessly to carry out this vision while working with her students with special needs and disabilities. She dedicated her life to helping those who needed the most love and support. For her entire life, Sherrial personified the 4-H Club’s pledge…“I pledge My HEAD to clearer thinking, My HEART to greater loyalty, My HANDS to larger service, and my Health to better living for my club, my community, my country, and my world.”

Sherrial Cameal Lowe is preceded in death by both her loving maternal grandparents, her mother Mary L. McKinney, and siblings Roosevelt Lowe, Erdell Lowe-Tate, Johnnie Lowe, and Lonnie (Fannie) Lowe. Sherrial remains in the heart of her siblings Ruby Lowe (George) Jones, Greenville, MS; Dorothy Ann McKinney, Greenville, MS; Cornell Lowe, Chicago, Illinois; Charles (Edna) Lowe, Greenville, MS; Dennis (Cynthia) McKinney, Euless, Texas; Linda Lowe (Samuel) Nichols, Lorton, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 11 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford.
The interment will follow, via funeral procession to Forest Park Southwest cemetery in Richmond.
Following the interment all are invited to gather with the family and share memories of Sherrial during a repast reception to be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the event room at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford.
