

He was born to parents Paul Neugebauer and Marion Hinchcliffe Neugebauer on August 12, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Frankford High School in 1949. He began working for Schneider Bowman Foundry as a molder apprentice during the early 1950’s. He left Schneider Bowman Foundry in 1953 when he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served from 1953 to 1955, with the majority of his service time being stationed in West Germany.
Upon his return to civilian life in Philadelphia, Tom met Ruth Mae Meyers and they were married on November 5, 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Together they raised two children: Thomas E Neugebauer and Gary A Neugebauer.
Tom was a great husband, father and friend. His patience, love and understanding greatly helped to foster a tremendous family life and as an outstanding role model to his sons. Tom was very active with his sons, coaching little league baseball and serving as nation chief for the Indian Guides of the Northeast Philadelphia YMCA chapter. He also enjoyed driving the YMCA bus on weekends, bringing the guides to the main facility center. He also introduced the family to skiing, an activity that the family continues to love to this day.
Tom worked for the H.G. Enderline Foundry over a span of nearly 30 years, where he managed foundry operations until his departure. During his tenure at H.G Enderline, Tom was elected chairman of the local chapter of the American Foundry Society for a period of time.
Tom along with his wife, Ruth, became part owners of a small boutique foundry following his departure from H.G. Enderline.
Tom then worked as a Sales Account Manager for 10 years at the Hickman, Williams & Company, selling metals and supplies to foundries all over the NE USA.
Tom retired in 1999, and enjoyed life in Brigantine NJ, going to the beach, playing Bocchi Ball with many friends and volunteering his time driving elderly all over the Island.
Tom enjoyed tinkering in the garage, working with his hands and many tools. He was the Norm Abram of the neighborhood. Tom also enjoyed the many cruises that he took with his wife, Ruth and the many cruise friends that they meet over a lifetime of cruising. Other hobbies/activities that Tom enjoyed were flying model airplanes, riding his bicycle all over Brigantine Island and the A.C. boardwalk. He was an avid sports fan of Philadelphia Sports teams, with the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers being his favorites. When the Eagles won the Super Bowl on February 4, 2018, there were many tears of joy.
Tom was also a wonderful and loving Grandfather to his four Grandchildren, Ali & Erin and Lauren & Ryan who all called him Pop-Pop. He thoroughly enjoyed the many activities with them but especially during the summertime at the South Jersey Shore, where he loved to take them to the beach and the boardwalk for amusements and rides. These cherished memories will be in the hearts of his Grandchildren for all time.
Tom is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas E & Nanci Neugebauer and Gary A & Laura Neugebauer, four Grandchildren, Ali, Lauren, Erin and Ryan, three Great Grandchildren, Lukas, Avery and Nora and a Niece, Linda and Nephew, Tommy.
Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Mae Neugebauer having been married for 65 years, his parents, Paul and Marion Neugebauer, his Brother and Sister-in-law, Paul and Ida Neugebauer, his Brother-in-Law and wife, Robert and Ida Meyers, his 3 Nephews, Jimmy, Johnny and Robert and Niece Roberta and several Aunts and Uncles.
Tom’s remains, along with his wife Ruth, will be interned at the Oakland Cemetery, located in Philadelphia, later this year.
