Vera Ann (Farley) Osborne, 91, of Sugar Land, Texas passed away June 6, 2026. She was happy and comforted by having her sons Vic, Andy, and Rusty as well as her Daughters in Law Thuy, Casey and Staci with her during her final weeks and days.
Vera was the daughter of the late Frank Preston Farley, Sr. and the late Vera Ella (Bower) Farley. She was born in Roanoke, VA and raised in West Virginia with 6 siblings. She was the wife of the late George Reese Osborne, Jr.
Vee, as she preferred to be called, was a graduate of Glen Rogers High School and also earned an Associates Degree from Concord College (WV). After graduation, marriage and starting a family, she settled into a long career with Gulf Oil in Reston, Virginia and then continued through her retirement with Chevron in Houston, Texas. For the majority of her career, she served as an Executive Secretary for many of the Top Executives of both Gulf and Chevron, and was Supervisor of Office Services for Chevron Houston, earning respect with her attention to detail, loyalty, and support of her bosses.
Vee raised sons Vic, Andy and Rusty, as a single mother, after the sudden passing of her husband George in a car accident in July 1973. She never complained, she just put her heart into her boys, along the way sometimes working multiple jobs if needed. Most who know her well consider her one of the toughest woman, both mentally and physically, they have encountered. When not active with work or her sons, she loved to play tennis with many good friends in the Houston area. Playing in leagues and attending camps for many years. However, in later years she dedicated herself to her boys and their families. Never having daughters, she cherished her daughters in law Thuy, Casey and Staci. She worked hard to spoil and know her 7 Grandchildren. “Grammy V” was the best with her love, humor, and of course, “suitcase presents”. She also cherished her spring Bluebonnet trips with Vic and Thuy.
The family wants to thank everyone who supported Vee over the last few years, especially best friend Glenda Smith, with whom she shared many laughs, heartaches and good times. In addition, all of the Doctors, Nurses and Aides at Memorial Hermann, Houston Methodist, and Ignite who helped care for her these last 7 months. They treated her with kindness, care, compassion and friendship. She could not have gotten a group of nicer, caring medical professionals.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her 6 siblings. Sisters M. June Farley, Laura (Pinkie) Luther, and Ruby Lee Wareham, and brothers George D. Farley, Frank P. Farley, Jr. and Harold D. (Doug) Farley.
She is survived by her sons and Daughters in Law Victor Reese (Thuy), Andrew Preston (Casey), and George Russell (Staci). Seven Grandchildren, Sagan, Austin, Kylan, Jalyn, and Kadyn from Rusty and Staci, and Anna and Jerry from Andy and Casey. Four Great Grandchildren, Corbin, Addison Jo, Chloe, Jalen, as well as many nieces and nephews.
