Virginia Ann DeForke

Virginia Cunzalo Austin DeForke was born in Houston, Texas on October 11, 1949 to Lee and Lillie Cunzalo (both deceased). She passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2019 in Galveston, Texas. She was the wife of Joe DeForke and mother of Jennifer Austin Corbett (Matt) and Nonna to Tatum and James Corbett, stepmother to Melissa DeForke (deceased) and Jennifer DeForke. Her sisters are Margie Cunzalo DiPuma (Vincent) and Connie Cunzalo Nagle (John, deceased). Sister-in-law is Barbara DeForke Green (Geary). She had seven nephews and one niece along with their spouses, many great nieces and nephews, and countless other kids she considered family that she loved to hug and kiss. Virginia also shared a special bond with her first and second cousins in the Houston area. She was a graduate of Marian High School.

Virginia was very proud of her Italian heritage and was a long-time member of the Italian Cultural & Community Center. She was involved with the Houston Italian Festival and other Italian events for many years. She was also a founding member of the Daughters of Italian Heritage and a long-time employee of Olympus Marble and Granite.

Jamaica Beach has always been Virginia’s second home, creating many wonderful memories throughout her life with family and friends. She loved to watch the sun set each night from her perfect spot on the water. Her final days were spent in her favorite place surrounded with love.

We are honoring Virginia on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 S. Kirkwood Rd, Stafford, Texas 77477. Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m., Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m., Reception immediately following.
