It's been 30+ years since I've seen Ms. Payne and the Payne family. Despite being a parent, she always related so well with us high schoolers. Her son Kevin was a really good friend. I know she is missed and my thoughts go out to Kevin, Kendra, Keli, and the rest of this great family.

Ken and Barbara were longtime family friends from their days in Fort Scott, KS. My family, Wilber, Charlotte, Harry, and I had treasured memories at First Baptist Church, picnics, and times together. A special time was the visit to Spangdahlem, Germany when our families reunited. Barbara was a wonderful pianist, choir director, and piano teacher. Her smile and laughter always lit up the room. We were saddened to hear of Barbara's passing but her faith and trust in God assures us she is now at peace. Our prayers of support to Kevin, Kendra, Keli, and their families.

So sorry to hear this. Mrs. Payne was an inspiration to me, encouraging me to pursue writing and to be open to new ways of looking at things. Creative writing class is one of my favorite memories from Berlin American High. My sincere condolences to her family. God Bless all of you.

RIP, Ms. Payne. I so enjoyed my creative writing class with you. I learned a lot and I knew you to be a compassionate human being and an outstanding, motivating teacher. I send condolences to the Payne family, especially to Kendra, whom I knew because she was in my graduating class. I also remember Ken Payne, whom I visited as counsellor once, I think; I was not aware that he had died earlier, so again, my condolences to the Payne family.
