

She graduated from Stafford High School, class of 1961 and worked for the government at Fort Belvoir for many years and retired from U.S Census Bureau in Charlotte, NC in 2001.
Betty was a member of Ramoth Baptist Church where she organized the Ramoth Cemetery Directory and accounted for all the graves of those buried there. Betty was number 6 of 12 children.
She is survived by her sisters, Jeanie Pritchett and Charlotte Embrey; her brothers, Edwin, Phillip, and Donald (JR) Embrey; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Lena Embrey; her brothers, Richard “Pete”, Arthur “Billy”, and Ashby “Buddy” Embrey; and her sisters, Alice Portt, Ann Payne and Linda Grainger.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of Confederacy. She was a great traveler and visited all 50 states. She enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb.
Betty was a valued member of the “Embrey Clan”, sharing her great wealth of knowledge on many subjects. She was the “go to” person for many and was the official “Tax Lady” for the Embrey family and friends.
Per her request there will be no services. A private family memorial is planned for a later date.
