Betty was a lifelong resident of Stafford County. She attended Stafford High School and married David William Wirman Jr. in 1948. During their nearly 64 years together, Betty worked alongside her husband building a successful business, keeping a beautiful home and raising six children. In retirement, she enjoyed living and helping on their farm while devoting her life to her ever-expanding family.
A wonderful and generous cook, Betty loved nothing better than hosting gatherings for family and friends. A pool full of grandkids and a Christmas tree surrounded by presents for all highlighted her life. She loved flower gardening and often graced the alter at her church with lovely cut flowers from her own gardens. She was a lifelong member of Aquia Episcopal Church and served many years as a member of the Alter Guild, the Episcopal Church Women, and Sunday school teacher.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, David William Wirman, Jr., son, Christopher Lee Wirman; one great granddaughter, Brianna Haley, and sister, Rosalia Pribble.
She is survived by five children, David Phillip Wirman, Larry William Wirman, Channele Marie Wirman, Catherine Ann Rowan and Deidre Lynn Wirman; twelve grandchildren, Alfred David Wirman, Justin Troy Wirman, Allison Noelle Erickson, Clifton Berle Sommer, Rosalyn Marie Berry, Cara Joy Miller, Christopher Lee Donald, Rebecca Lyn Donald, Amanda Marie Vierheller, Ryan Wade Vierheller, Sarah Beth Vierheller and Leanna Marie Argyle; nineteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel on Thursday, May 27 from 6-8:00 PM. The funeral will be held at Aquia Episcopal Church on Friday, May 28 at 11 AM, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
