Bobbye Deanne Hayes died on August 13th at her apartment in Fredericksburg, Virginia, 26 days shy of her 96th birthday. Bobbye Deanne Wills was born on September 8, 1930, the last child of seven born to Clara (Martin) and Richard Wills, 15 minutes after her twin sister. She was the last of her siblings to die.
She married Albert M Hayes, Jr. a year out of college, became a Navy wife, and lived across the country and world for 30 years. She bore three children, had three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She worked many years as a kindergarten teacher, and then many as a real estate agent in Stafford, Virginia where she and Al retired in 1980. She reached adulthood at the zenith of the American world and lived the excitement of it. She also experienced “the long goodbye” of dementia in the final years of her life, and she was aware of it. That pain is now gone, and she’s at rest.
She is survived by her children Albert “Chip” III (Nancy), John (Vickie), and Dianne Vines (Craig); grandchildren Albert Hayes IV (Katy), Valarie Hayes, and Almira Hayes; great grandchildren Albert “Quint” Hayes V, Avery Hayes, and Bailey McGrosky; her brother-in-law William Hayes; and many nieces and nephews.
