

He was born on March 7, 1954, in Williamsport, PA to James Henry Mitchell, Jr. and Ann Louise (Baker) Mitchell.
Bruce graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1972 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he honorably served his country. He was a family man who shared his love for sports by coaching his two daughters’ softball and basketball teams. His love for the beach found him enjoying family time yearly in the Outer Banks.
Bruce retired after 36 years from Lockheed Martin in Manassas, VA where he participated in the company softball and golf teams. He also enjoyed being involved with his community through the Big Brother program. Bruce had a strong love for God and was an active member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Stafford.
Predeceased by his father James Henry Mitchell, Jr. and one brother Joseph Mitchell.
Survived by his mother, Ann Louise Mitchell; loving wife of 51 years, Mary Lou Mitchell; two daughters: Eileen Andrews (Charles) and Natalie Fox (Brandon); one brother: David Mitchell (Lawrence Bach); two sisters: Luann Remick (Michael) and Teresa Bowman (Jonny); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172 with Military Honors.
