Apostle C. L. Young was born in Jersey City, N. J. to Herbert and Mamie Drayton, June 16, 1946. This is where God’s plan first started in her life. The bible allows us to understand the vessel he uses and sanctifies, will be taken through many trails, tests and tribulations in order for them to be effective tools for His kingdom.
From birth through childhood and as a young adult, Apostle Young was diagnosed with chronic bronchial asthma, and was continually holding on to dear life. This was a time when running back and forth to the emergency room was a common thing. God not only healed her lungs, but He atoned for her salvation.
Her teenage years were being orchestrated by God, as He was training Apostle Young through her parents, to work in the Missionary field diligently taking care of those in her family which included her grandmother, Elizabeth Worrell. Somewhere between young adult, marriage and career, Apostle Young
accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and also realized that Jesus Christ must be first forever more. Upon graduating from High School, Apostle Young was never a person to stay idle. She immediately went to work for Bell Atlantic phone system as a switchboard operator. A few years later, Apostle Young met her husband, David W. Young and on October 1, 1966 they were married. Shortly
after marriage, God blessed her with her son, on June 2, 1968, Shane Young. Around 1972, wanting a better life, Apostle C. L. Young and her family moved south to Virginia to start new. It was around 1977 that Apostle Young accepted Jesus Christ. Shortly after, the Lord Jesus blessed Apostle with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost, March 12, 1978.
Apostle Young moved to Springfield, Va. Where reading and meditation of Gods Holy word became most important during this time as never before. God blessed her to find a place of worship at The First Assembly of God in Annandale, Va., which later became Word of Life. This is where Apostle Young was blessed to become a teacher, between 1981-1985 for middle and high school students at Word of Life Christian Academy.
During this time, Apostle C. L. Young and Chief Apostle Chambliss were communing about the Apostles Doctrine which propelled Apostle Young to start Bible study around her dining room table in Springfield, Va. The foundation was being laid, from the Apostles doctrine to be spread in Virginia with much prayer and fasting. Pastor, Apostle C.L. Young was ordained to the Pastorate by Dr. Bishop W. H. Amos, 1984, Durham, NC. Apostle studied at Northern Virginia Community College, George Mason University and received her Bachelor Degree in Biblical studies from Logos International College in 1998.
A key was miraculously placed in her hand to hold services at Clark’s Baptist Church in Springfield, Va. now called Open Door Church of God in Christ Jesus. Nine souls were baptized in Jesus Name and were receptive for the Word of God. The teaching of the Word of God is a gift, (part of the Five-Fold Ministry) and is most necessary for new souls. The saints’ hearts were then open to honor, love and respect their Savior’s Holiness as applied to their lives. Remembering the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy (Exodus 20:4) was necessary on this new journey.
Apostle Young, continued holding services in Springfield, Va. and in her home in Woodbridge, Va. until God said, “Move South”! The address was 4075 Squire Lane, Triangle, Va. 22172. It was a very humble beginning here in Triangle but pivotal. There was no other church in this Triangle area with this One God message. The radio broadcast was birthed during this era, “Everybody ought to know who Jesus is”, was the theme song but the message was true repentance and salvation according to the Word of God. Revivals were held, deliverance services were attended and souls were baptized in Jesus Name and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. The angels were rejoicing.
The vision is always given to the visionary. Apostle says it like this, “When God gives the vision, He makes provision”! As Apostles are first in the Five-Fold ministry, (Ephesians 4:11) the Lord will give his foundation and floor plans to His Apostles. Thereby, Apostle Young was given the vision. The original plans and specifications for His church in the New Testament is pronounced vividly in God’s Word. The Lord released Apostle in, (2014) to minister from the Word of God, The Five-Fold Ministry which is spelled out in (Ephesians 4:11-16).
God’s timing is always perfect. Last year, July 2021, the Lord opened a miraculous door for the woman of God. 18456 Kerill Rd., Triangle, Va., God blessed with a new residential home. As soon as Apostle Young moved into her blessing, she knew she would move no more. In nine months, God decided to bless Apostle with wings of glory on April 18, 2022. Amen
