Obituary of Catherine "Cathy" Anderson
Cathy Anderson, of Stafford, Virginia passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31st, 2023. She was born on March 7th, 1968, to the late Patrick and Anne O’Dea in Manhattan, New York. Cathy spent much of her life living in Virginia, where she and her husband raised a family. Educated as a lawyer, she pivoted to concentrate on the well being of her three children. Cathy later spent an increasing amount of time as a substitute teacher as her children grew in age. She loved spending time with elementary school children and making an impact on their lives. Cathy had a wide range of hobbies but loved most of all spending time with her close friends and family. She loved traveling throughout the country with her kids hitting 46 of the 50 states, but was always in a New York state of mind with Billy Joel on the playlist. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She is preceded in death by her mother, Anne (Dolan) O’Dea; father, Patrick O’Dea, and brothers, Patrick O’Dea and Joseph O’Dea. She is survived by her husband, Brian Anderson; children, Sarah Anderson, Ryan Anderson and Dylan Anderson; her brother, Kevin O’Dea and her sister Anne Ambrosich; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; her nieces and nephews, and her cousins. All of which were very precious to her. A service to celebrate Cathy’s life well lived will be on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 1:00pm at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford location. Family will receive friends for a visitation an hour prior. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages expressions of sympathy to be made in the form of gifts to preferred charities to include the Colorectal Cancer Alliance in Cathy's memory.
