Charles William Grant

Charles W. Grant, age 87 of Stafford, VA passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday May 9th 2021, after a long 9 year battle with cancer. Charles spent his youth in the Minoa and the Syracuse, NY area. Charles had a 49 -year distinguished career with the USAF ( 26 years ) and with the US Defense Attaché, US Embassy in New York and office of the Air Attaché, American Embassy London, England (23 years). Charlie took great pride in and enjoyed his long military career. Charles loved to be outside tending to his large garden, he planted over 35 Azalea bushes, 5 hydrangea and numerous ornamental trees, he and Pam brought in rocks from the quarry to edge the woods surrounding their home and Charlie edged and maintained the entire garden tirelessly in his retirement years. He enjoyed his family visits and traveling to see them. He loved doing home improvements and painting. He made wooden benches and shelving for the garage. He enjoyed playing basketball and snooker with the family and was very proud of his family. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Alletzhauser; father, Ernest Grant; Brothers, Thomas Russell, Donald Grant, Ernest Grant Jr.; Sisters, Jane Bickle, Patricia and his stepson Glenn Ridge; as well as his first wife Sylvia Grant. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Grant; three step children, Bryan Ridge (Diane), Tommy Ridge, and Shireen Pintze (John). Seven step grandchildren. Seven step great- grandchildren. Five sisters, Marion, Marjorie, Ruth, Carol and Judy; two brothers, Bill and Jim. A private service will take place at a later date.
