Daniel, 

It's been a year of struggles and heartbreak without you.  We all miss hearing your voice, sharing a laugh, a smile, a high-five, a "GO VOLS" with you.  Family and friends have leaned on one another through the grieving and remembrance of your impact and importance in our lives.  Many have put their feelings into words such as.....

"He was everyone's best friend"

"Daniel's only competition was himself"

"Struggling with out you brother. I miss you."

"I would call you a friend, but brother fits so much better."

"He always cared and was the first to reach out to others.....nothing he was taught, just the special young man that he was."

"I just miss you 😔🧡🤍"

"He was like a brother and an uncle to our family."

"It breaks my heart that we lost Bu he was like a big brother to me."

"Yeah, I know you're in a better place
And one day I'll see you again
But it's killing me we can't be face to face
I miss my best friend."

You mean absolutely everything to your family and I think Grandpa summed it up when he said "Losing Daniel has changed everything".  One thing it hasn't changed is the impact and memories made in the lives of those that knew you best, your friends.   They have reached out to the family,  held one another up in your absence,  and continue to hold on to that individual piece of your heart that you shared with them.  I couldn't be prouder of you son and miss you every single day.

We are all missing Daniel today  at Christmas.   Daniel always loved God's little children and we miss our Uncle B on this most special day.

Buford was a leader, and a good person. I was lucky enough to spend time with him when I was younger, and I wish I had spent more time with him as I got older. He had a positive impact on my life, and many of my friends' lives, and I realize how much I should have reached out more now that he is gone. Rest in Peace Buford, I know you are in heaven now.

Dan was my supervisor/trainer at GEICO, but I’d like to think we developed a friendship during our time together. Dan was always willing to go above and beyond in order for me to be successful in my GEICO career and my personal life as well. I will treasure our talks and his wisdom in this lifetime as well as the next. Dan, you will be truly missed.

Dan I’m so sorry to hear of your untimely passing! I will always remember you as a sweet happy go lucky guy! We worked  together at the jail and you were always pleasant and professional ! you were my friend! I’m really sorry for your family’s loss! You were one of the good ones!

Dan was someone that I could joke and laugh with or have a meaningful heart-to-heart with. A man of true balance. I always appreciated how genuine he chose to be in motivating me and his constant words of encouragement will remain in my heart forever. Rest easy Dan.

We are so very sorry to hear of Buford’s passing. Our deepest sympathy to all of his family and friends.


I worked with Dan at the jail for many years, and over the course of those years we shared so many laughs, gotten through “tough times” and came out on the other end to ask, “you okay,? yeah I’m okay.” I’ll always appreciate you having my back and looking out for us nurses. Your smile was contagious and your laugh also warmed my heart! I can hear it still today. I will miss you, my friend. Rest in eternal peace, I’ll see you on the other side.  Until then…..

I will never forget you. We always talked about football you with Tennessee and myself with Auburn. You were a true support and I will treasure the time that a knew you. Rest easy
