Donn was preceded in death by his father Donn Harold Emison and his eldest sister Denise Ann Antalek. He is survived by his mother Helen Elizabeth Emison, sister Dorise Ann McVicker, and his brother David Rice Emison, six nieces and nephews, and ten grand nieces and nephews. Helen, Dorise, David, and brother-in-law Steven McVicker were at his side in passing.
He was born in Washington DC at Georgetown University Hospital and spent his formative years in Poughkeepsie, NY as his family followed his father’s career at IBM. Donn graduated from Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, MD and continued to follow his father at IBM, leading to a successful career in the information technology field.
Donn was universally loved by all. He was quick to lead with a compliment, and his infectious laugh brightened every environment he was in. Renown for upholding a high moral standard in how others should be treated, Donn exhibited an uncommon kindness and courtesy towards all. He was quick to share his success with others and in an act of extraordinary generosity, once passed along a car to a parking lot attendant who admired it daily.
Donn loved his work and the people he worked with over many decades. The love and praise expressed by his coworkers proves his extraordinary conscientiousness and character were a special light in this world that will be greatly missed.
Donnie’s enduring love of boating and shooting rooster tails was well complimented by his accomplishments turning wrenches as a mechanic. His endless pursuit of quality was self-evident in the beauty of his boat and the people with whom he surrounded himself both professionally and personally.
