The youngest of 7 siblings, the daughter of the late Roy and Hazel Whetzel, Dottie grew up in Stafford. She graduated from Stafford High and shortly after started working for the US Army in Ft. Belvoir.
Dottie married Monroe Cook in 1975 and they had two daughters. She retired from the Federal Government. She loved traveling, cruises, the beach and according to her many nieces and nephews, made the best sweet tea and popcorn.
Survivors include her daughters, Angie Howard (Billy) and Jenny Thompson (Stacey); her grandchildren, Hannah Howard, Coby Goslin, Hunter Howard, Emma Dove and Boe Howard; and her brother, Gary Whetzel.
