Elijah Dallas Cox, Jr., affectionately known as “Junie,” was born on January 5, 1961, to the late Eleanor Miles and Elijah Dallas Cox. He peacefully departed this life on May 27, 2025.
Junie was educated in the public school system of Raleigh, North Carolina, a city he proudly called home. Over the years, he learned many trades and skills that left a lasting impact on those he loved. In his final months, Junie spent his time cherishing his family and finding joy in life’s simple yet profound moments.
A Life Filled with Passion and Love:
Junie loved listening to oldies music and had an enduring love for sports, particularly football and basketball. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he enjoyed watching games and sharing those moments with his wife, sons, brothers, and grandsons. Beyond spectating, he enjoyed playing sports himself, especially basketball. He was also an avid runner and made daily exercise a priority.
Whether it was watching Jazmine at dance recitals, cheering Amiyah on at lacrosse, or playing basketball with Elijah III and King, he fully immersed himself in their lives and accomplishments.
Family was Junie’s cornerstone. Connecting with loved ones brought him immense happiness. He cherished every moment spent with family, where laughter and warmth filled the room. He enjoyed his time with his grandchildren, whose company brought him boundless joy.
Junie especially loved spending time with his wife, Donna, watching movies, playing cards, their competitive friendly betting on sports teams or just dancing in the living room brought them both an immense feeling of love that she will carry in her heart forever.
Words of Wisdom and Family Bonds:
Junie was a source of wisdom and guidance for his brothers, who deeply admired and respected him. Being the family’s patriarch was a cherished role, and the bonds they shared only grew stronger in his presence.
He embraced modern technology with enthusiasm when Tanika and Pawaii taught him how to text, FaceTime, and create his own Instagram account. He enjoyed exchanging texts with Pawaii and learning how to respond, small yet meaningful connections that brought him even closer to his family.
