Born December 16, 1938 (84 years).
He is survived by Wanda, his “lovely bride” of 63 years, and three children; Janie (Walker) Welch, Mike Walker, and Scott Walker. Also, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Gene was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He retired from Rohm Palanc (formerly Celanese Chemical Co.) after thirty-four years of service at the age of 57. Gene spent many years with friends and family at Nolin Lake in Kentucky boating, swimming, and skiing. The horseshoe pitching tournaments after a day on the water were legendary!
He also had a passion for golf which was the source of prolonged good-natured harassment (mostly) over who won and why. A devoted family-man, he most enjoyed time spent visiting and vacationing with his extended family. A life well lived, he will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 16 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service located at 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford VA, 6-8pm. A brief service will be held at the same location Friday, March 17 at 11am followed by a graveside ceremony at the Quantico National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name be made to Dementia Society of America (dementiasociety.org).
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mullinsthompsonstafford.com for the Walker family.
