She is survived by children Dianne Harmon of Marion N.C, John C. Smith, Jr. of Stafford, Virginia and Kaye Smith Maxwell (Walter) of Media Pa.; grandchildren, Robyn Bishop, Kim Owens (Scott), Jonathan Maxwell and LtJG Megan Maxwell; great grandchildren, Tray Welch, Kaleb Owens and Kinsey Owens; great -great grandchild Jackson Welch and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John Coates Smith; parents Nelson and Fannie Bernard of Danville; brother Billy Bernard (Dot) and sister Esther Cole.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at Quantico National Cemetery.
