James "Jim" Duncan was born on January 15th, 1954. The son of James and Patricia Duncan, Jim left behind his beloved wife of forty seven years, Cheryl Jane and their poodle pup, Coco. He is also survived by his daughter Lyndsey and her husband Josh, and their three children Savannah, Makenna, and Jaxon. Also left behind are his son in law, Jason, and his three children, Robert, Jarred, and Rebecca. Jim was preceeded in death by his beautiful daughter, Sherrie. Jim also leaves behind his brother Wayne and his wife Pam, along with so many who loved him and were honored to call him family or friend.
Jim was the pillar of his family. He was an amazing husband and set the bar for any who followed him for how a husband should care for and about his wife. As a father he was a gentle and firm leader, always leading by example and following his motto that "people will live up to, or down to, your expectations of them". A natural born leader he quickly became the lead on anything, or in any group. Lovingly referred to as "Old School" by a tribe of young men whom he took under his wing that he referred to as his Lost Boys. Jim was also cherished by those he called his FedEx family, a career he retired from in 2017 after 25 years. Prior to his career at FedEx Jim served his country in the United States Navy.
Following his retirement he enjoyed time with his family, fishing, gold prospecting, leather making, jewelry making, traveling, and so many other little hobbies he affectionately called tinkering.
Jim passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, holding the hand of his loving wife on December 10th, 2021.
A service near his home in Virginia will be held Friday December 17th, 2021 at 7pm at the Stafford Lakes Village clubhouse located at 65 Village Parkway Fredericksburg VA, 22046.
