He was the son of James Earl and Mae Nell Martin (Moss) originally from Mississippi. Jim graduated from George Mason University in 1992 with a BS in Biology.
Jim had one deceased sister Kathy Russell and three living sisters; Joy Doyle, April Harlowe and Melony Olmstead along with many extended family.

An interment will occur Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Stafford Memorial Park, 154 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, Virginia.
